Agreed, the AP-300 has enough issues for others to share.... :D

No one is hiding AP-300 issues. It is interesting to see people not willing to accept Sigma chipset has issues.

So Gypsy... when are you planning to start testing the beta firmware for your new player?

No one is hiding or fixing AP-300 issues

lol, what do you mean start?

Of course Sigma chipsets have issues, but not as many as Realtek.

Of course Nixeus has issues, but no where near as many as Astone

The big difference will be that Nixeus will fix theirs and it won't take years to do.

Please stop trolling
Gypsy, eemdz, Thunder Bird: could you please stop discussing the pro, cons and costs of other media players and chipsets in this thread?
This thread is about issues with AP-300, firmware version 1.9 beta.

Internal HDD not found

After booting from power up or standby, the AP-300 (FW 1.9b2) randomly fails to detect the internal hard-disk. This happens although the LED shows activity while/after booting.

The only way to browse the HD is to try accessing it multiple times from the browser.
Key point is: even after a failure (i.e. error message), the AP-300 does not seem trying to detect the HD, the LED shows no activity.
Fix: the AP-300 should trust the user. If a user selects the HD, then most likely because he knows that one is inside. (Of course there is accidental access and stupid/stubborn users:-)
Thus the FW should immediately trigger the detection and mount of the internal HD iff
+ it is not already mounted
+ the user tries to access it from the browser.

Setting the repeat mode to "repeat track" is a work around so that the children do not watch all movies.

1.9b2

Have noticed that on some mkv files pressing next (not fast forward) can do a super fast fast forward and not moving to the next file. The files in question have not chapter markup in them.
Additionally if playback is stopped during super fast forward and then resume for the same file accepted the super fast forward is still in effect and the only way to break it is stop the watch the movie from the beginning.

This does not happen on all files and I have not yet established a pattern for this behaviour.

Keep up the good work.

So 33% of my Blu-ray ISOs are played with ZERO sound (unless I connect it to a decoder / AV receiver). I understand most people don't care.. BUT using your own argument... if the device is advertised as 1080p capable.. shouldn't it play files properly?

The AP-300 doesn't do TRUEHD downsampling on any firmware either, even though the 1.9 beta release notes say it does. Or are you having better luck than I am?

Copying across network with 1.90B2 seems to create a folder titled as the first file. Anyone else had this issue?

I will double check again. I normally run Blu-ray ISO tests when testing AP-300 firmware tests. I was expecting AP-300 not able to downsample it to 2 channels. but I was a bit suprised it worked when I put 1.9 beta on it. However, it was a quick test using 1.9 beta. I used component output (RGB+Audio). I will try HDMI and report back.

TrueHD downsampling issue... I found it rather weird... When I first received my AP-300, it was able to playback True-HD tracks... but after a while it stopped.. and since then, I was not able to get it to work... until 1.9 beta.

The movie tested was StarTrek (2009). I will re-test and report back. I might also try AP-110D.
