No change log again??? wtf astone? Not even a change log from Beta 1 to Beta 2????

Great to see a new beta of 1.9 out, but come on, at least try and give us some idea of what to expect when we're doing the testing for you! Is there no change log because the only *changes* are that you're using the new API from realtek, but everything *should* be working the same? If so, then at least tell us that! Don't say "Change log will be available later", and then never give us a change log.

/rant.

That aside, like I said ... it is good to see a new build come out ... hopefully it's getting closer to a final build! :)

I was Just about to post a refference to an earlier - 7 months ago - v1.74 beta post that sounded very similar to the buggy and unstable Firmware and support with this product . And then -this turns UP .

Has the tide finally turned?

I Will try it out tonight - It can only be better - I hope.

Thanks.

ok here we go!

MKV video - jerky - didn't happen in previous versions
All audio streams are killed if you turn the TV off (sometimes I just want to listen to music but don't need the TV on)!! Happened in 1.9.1B as well
SPDIF (raw) - Still only passes Dolby, if AVI played, no audio (no pcm)

AND C: is now D: WTF??? Where is the consistency?

Obviously more to come! Still NOT HAPPY JAN

Is the audio/video sync problem fixed in this latest v1.9 beta 2?

Just upgraded from 1.81 this time, I was trying to get the HDD to record again for the World Cup !

First thoughts are frickin excellent !

This is the fastest thing now ! Changing channels are so fast and the menu :D

The audio is fixed for mp3 sound going through the amp now. This is looking good, I tested mkv's and avi's and they all play backed very well.

Accessing the NAS from a WIndows 7 machine now connects incredibly quickly compared to 1.9 Beta 1, great stuff ! Looks like NAS in running flawlessly now. Hope it stays that way, I will keep updating as things burn in. NAS speeds have tripled ! I can transfer anything to the box at about 6.3 MB/S, this is awesome, makes it easy to keep my media collection organised.

The only thing not working is recording since the partition info has changed to NTFS (C:) ....instead of SYSTEM (HDD). I wonder if I connect it to the PC and manually change the HDD label to SYSTEM (HDD)....anyone think it's a good idea ?

Looking good for the future final release. :P Much better Astone !

Ok, so far it's look very good. I upgraded from 1.9b1(Build 100622) and here's a summary of my experience:

-Updated the unit with no issues or crashes
-Played a m2ts file (40GB file) from HDD with no issues
-Played 3 mkv files, 2 which worked fine and another one which didn't work great but it worked better than previous revisions. The 2 were from the network, the other from the HDD
-Played several mp3 files and also some flac without issue. All from network sources.
-Played flv files and found that the new beta plays the flv files that used to be marked as "Invalid File"
-I added to add a shortcut to a NAS I have on my network while an mp3 was played from the NAS. I tried twice to add the shortcut with a username and password but both times it wasn't added to the My Shortcuts lists. However I was able to manually able to add a shortcut to the NAS althought it came up with "Unknown:Crenn" and when I renamed the label I could only do "NASName" as I couldn't select the colon.
-Turning the device on and off via the remote resulted in expecting behaviour and no crashing (unlike the last time I tried with the 1.9b1)
-I was also able to access the webpage hosted on the NAS and also telnet in.

I must say that so far this is the smoothest I've seen this device run. I'll post back in about a week or so and give an update and report if it's ever crashed.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention I didn't format the HDD.

I noticed this too, but it's not a huge thing for me.

Hi
This version seems more responsive. NAS seems to work better too. also experiencing HDD volume mismatch like others here, and while browsing via NAS, other folders are shown such as lost+found.
Since data have been backed up, and these errors have possibly been inherited from previous beta version, a full HDD format even if not required seem to have fixed up the drive volume labels.

Other than that, keep up the good work astone.

only trouble i had initially was that my wireless dongle wouldnt work.
fixed that by powering down, unplugging, and turning back on and plugging dongle back in.

every thing seems so much faster this time around. no issues other than the above mentioned.

very very pleased with this. well done, you is finally on the right track. :D :D :D :D :D
